50 Shades of Lost

Lost World

In this article I will be going into detail the various Lost World Builds that you can run currently. The beauty of Lost World is that there are many builds and each can be tailored according to what you are playing as your primary world. Some builds tend to be 'High Roll' while others focus on accomplishing different task. However the main point of Lost World is to provide an avenue of offence to decks that lack it. Majority of players have the impression that Lost World breaks the game however I would like to disagree, it has created a new layer of depth in the game and gave many decks an additional win condition. Without further ado let's begin.

The Old Reliable

Vile Demonic Dragon, Vanity Husk DestroyerKer Phobmand

Ah yes the original broken card that is the answer to everything. Vanity Husk Destroyer, a bread and butter build that focuses on sticking to the board while removing the opponent's as well as blocking any life gain so you can go for 'Vanity Zero Blazer' for a cool 10 damage for game. This build has fallen out of flavour in recent weeks due to it being weak to rest effects that prevent stand, also another weakness is that it gives the opponent a counter timing to abuse ensuring them a card to go off. However, it has the highest kill potential on a T0 Lost.

High Roller

Vile VortexEpisto Ira Gnitz

Why is Vortex considered High Roll? Enter Gnitz, the beast that ends games. Having a build that relies on vortex makes your card quality alot worse when drawing as well as needing 2 pieces to function hoping the vortex resolves. However when you high roll with vortex, it enables huge plays such as Gnitz, Vanity Epoch and Vanity End. The need for 'Day of Devastation' is required as well because of the protection it grants. A bad point about the deck is that your 'Invasion from Deep & Vile' is alot worse because your lostvader monsters all are hard to summon thus making it harder to cast it.

Wild Dogs

Lost Thunderaxe, AgitoAquinas Dogma

Lost Agito gives all Lostvader 'Triple Attack' for the duration of the turn. Yes even if monsters are not on the field prior also get triple attack. Thus enter Dogma, with the ability to counter call from hand it not only has triple attack with Agito, it can be a way to call over your Lostvader during the opponent's turn so that you can call Vanity Epoch acting as a pseudo removal spell. This 2 card combo is extremely potent and dangerous, not to mention when combined with cards that have on-attack skills.

Denial

Arlpow PeyduwallrDimension Denial

Currently one of the more popular builds in Japan with the rise of Time Dragons. This build is simple, big reliable bombs without any effects that trigger during the battle phase. This is to prevent the opponent from using any spells during counter timing. By giving the opponent no counter timing they'll have to blind cast their spells which will run straight into your spell null. Simple yet effective strategy, however does not pressure much with the over-reliance on the spell null and have little to no defensive capabilities.

The Secret MVP

This is not a build in itself, but an honourable mention to one of the most important cards in every Lost World. Odorio has inbuilt nullify and more importantly inbuilt protection from nullification effects. Any deck that is weak against nullification effects just has to go to Lost and when this card comes out all is well (Time Dragon). Simple yet amazing card.

To surmise, there are many ways to build your Lost deck, just make sure you have an objective in mind with how you would like it to synergise with your main deck and not blindly build a lost deck. Everything is intricate and to the detail, there is no 'rule of thumb' with the ratios because it all depends on what you are playing. With that its time for me to sign off.

Peace
